Type section: west side of Kessler Peak, in NE/4 sec. 6, T. 2 S., R. 3 W., and SW/4 sec. 31, T. 1 S., R. 3 W., Garfield quadrangle, Tooele Co., UT. Named from town of Lake Point, south of Great Salt Lake (Tooker and Roberts, 1970).
