Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Dalton Bluff, on west side of Pecos Valley overlooking Dalton Campground, 6.6 mi by road north of junction of State Highway 63 and Alternate U.S. Highway 84-85 at Pecos, San Miguel Co., NM. Named from Upper La Pasada (an old Spanish settlement) near foot of Dalton Bluff (Sutherland, 1963).
