Type locality: on Cow Creek, about 15 mi east of Paintsville, Floyd Co., southeasstern KY (Morse, 1931).
Type fossiliferous outcrop 150 yds above Dr. Kendrick's homestead, on headwaters of Cow Creek, Floyd Co., southeasstern KY (Jillson, 1919, 1920).
