Type section: outcrop on crest of Magdalena Mountains, [northeast of Kelly], in NE/4 SW/4 sec. 31, T. 2 S., R. 3 W., [Magdalena 7.5-min quadrangle], Socorro Co., central NM (Armstrong and Mamet, 1976).
