Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Principal reference sections --all in Mitchell quadrangle, Wheeler Co., OR: (1) section A-B, terminal point is about 700 ft northeast of initial point in NE/4 NE/4 SW/4 sec. 13, T. 11 S., R. 21 E., near summit of ridge on north side of canyon; (2) section C-G, terminal point (=G) on north-facing slope in center SE/4 sec. 20, T. 11 S., R. 22 E.; (3) section H-N, terminal point (=N) at top of ridge on dip-slope in NE/4 NE/4 SE/4 sec. 2, T. 12 S., R. 21 E. On cultivated ridge top, in secs. 7 and 8, T. 12 S., R. 22 W., are limited outcrops, not more than 50 ft thick, of Hudspeth (Wilkinson and Oles, 1968).
