Type locality (Whiskey Canyon section): in Whiskey Canyon [local name for tributary of Cuchillo Negro Creek about 5 mi northwest of Truth or Consequences], north end of Mud Springs Mountains, in S/2 sec. 1 and SE/4 sec. 2, T. 13 S., R. 5 W.; base of section at UTM Zone 13s, 283,719 m E., 3,675,991 m N., [Lat. 33 deg. 12 min. 04 sec. N., Long. 107 deg. 19 min. 13 sec. W.], top at UTM Zone 13s, 285,301 m E., 3,676,144 m N., [Lat. 33 deg. 12 min. 10 sec. N., Long. 107 deg. 18 min. 12 sec. W., Cuchillo 7.5-min quadrangle], Sierra Co., southwestern NM (Thompson, 1942; see also Lucas and others, 2016, New Mexico Mus. Nat. Hist. Sci. Bull., no. 69, Table 1)..
