Well developed on exposures about 2 mi south of Hite, San Juan Co., UT (Stewart and others, 1959).
Type section designated near the Colorado River at the Horn and continuing up promontory to north; promontory is 1.75 mi south-southeast of Hite, San Juan Co., UT (Stewart and others, 1972).
