Type locality: southern side of ridge (Haupu ridge) between Haupu Peak and point 0.3 mi east of Kamaulele Peak, [approx. Lat. 21 deg. 55 min. 41 sec. N., Long. 159 deg. 24 min. 15 sec. W., Lihue 7.5-min quadrangle], southeastern flank of Island of Kauai, HI (Macdonald and others, 1960).
