Well shown in bluffs of all small streams that head near summit of Pine Ridge in vicinity of Harrison, Sioux Co., western NE. Named from exposures in vicinity of Harrison, Sioux Co., western NE (Hatcher, 1902; US geologic names lexicons, USGS Bull. 896, 1200).
