Type section: 1 to 1.5 mi west of strip mine north of Elkol, near middle of eastern part of sec. 36, T. 21 N., R. 117 W., Kemmerer 15-min quadrangle, Lincoln Co., southwestern WY. Named from Hams Fork stream (Oriel and Tracey, 1970).
