Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Boulder exposures located approx. 435 m S. 70 deg. W. of Hammett Grove Branch, 675 m S. 13 deg. E. of Hammett Grove Church, and about 75 m southwest of Hammett Grove Road, Pacolet quadrangle, Spartanburg Co., SC. Named from Hammett Grove Branch (Mittwede, 1989).

Piedmont-Blue Ridge province
