Type section (typical section): on north side of high hill on south side of Guaje Canyon, in SE/4 NW/4 SE/4 sec. 4, T. 19 N., R. 7 E., [Puye 7.5-min quadrangle], Santa Fe Co., north-central NM. Named from Guaje Canyon (Griggs and Hem, 1964).
