Type section: measured on west-facing slope of hill about 0.75 mi east of village of Derry, in sec. 32, T. 17 S., R. 4 W., [Garfield 7.5-min quadrangle], Sierra Co., southwestern NM. Named from Green Canyon, [about 1 mi] north of Derry (Thompson, 1942).
