Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: along top of ridge separating Copper Creek and Virginia basin, east of town of Gothic (abandoned), in T. 12 and 13 N., R. 86 W., Gunnison Co., CO. Named from abandoned town of Gothic (Langenheim, 1952).
