Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Old quarry on east side of Route 9-W., 0.25 mile north of Glenerie Mills, 4 miles below Saugerties, Ulster Co., NY. Named from old Glenerie white-lead mills on Esopus Creek at Glenerie Falls (Chadwick, 1908, 1944).
