Type section (composite): (1) lower part, north of Fryingpan River, 1,350 to 1,800 m west of Ruedi Reservoir, in SW/4 sec. 12 and NW/4 sec. 13, T. 8 S., R. 85 W.; (2) upper part, in small quarry north of Fryingpan River, in SE/4 sec. 11, T. 8 S., R. 85 W., Pitkin Co., CO (Johnson, 1989).
Reference section: in Dry Woody Creek, in NE/4 sec. 34, T. 8 S., R. 85 W. (Johnson, 1989).
