["Type section"] (subsurface): defined in Shell No. 1 Hovenweep well, in sec. 5, T. 40 S., R. 26 E., San Juan Co., UT. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from Four Corners area of UT, CO, NM, and AZ (Baars and others, 1967).
