Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: in bluffs on north side of Rio Pueblo Valley, starting at base of Pennsylvanian near point where Tio Maes Creek enters valley, 3 mi east of junction of NM Highway 3 and NM Highway 75, Taos Co., NM [is only the lower 2,500 ft of section]. Named from Flechado Creek (Sutherland, 1963).
