Originally called Phayles Reef and Phayles.

Late Cretaceous (Campanian)*


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: on northeast flank of Rattlesnake Hills in southwestern part of sec. 4, T. 33 N., R. 87 W., Natrona Co., central WY. At this locality basal sandstone of member forms ridge locally known as "Phayles Reef" (Barwin, 1959, 1961).
