Type section: west fork of Glennon Canyon, 1.5 mi southeast of Morrison, in NW/4 sec. 12, T. 5 S., R. 70 W., [approx. Lat. 39 deg. 38 min. 06 sec. N., Long. 105 deg. 11 min. 00 sec. W.], Morrison quadrangle, Jefferson Co., north-central CO. Named from Mount Falcon, about 2.5 mi southwest of Morrison, in sec. 9, T. 5 S., R. 70 W., southwest part of Morrison quadrangle, Jefferson Co., north-central CO (LeRoy, 1946; see also LeRoy and Hayes, 1957, IN McKee, E.D., ed., Colorado measured sections, 1957, RMAG).
