Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Not designated. Named from Ellenburger Hills, Burnet Co., TX (Paige, 1912).
Type section: composite Tanyard-Gorman section adjoining the Ellenburger Hills. Section is relatively inaccesible. Combined Moore Hollow and Warren Springs sections south of Llano, Llano Co., [TX], are designated as standard section (Cloud and Barnes, 1948).
