Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: on Tierra Amarilla Grant, 3,000 ft S. 10 deg. W. of road intersection at BM 6966, which lies 3,600 ft south of NM Highway 112, and 500 ft west of eastern border of Boulder Lake quadrangle, Rio Arriba Co., NM. Outcrops begin about 650 ft south of Cooper Arroyo and 1400 ft west of eastern boundary of quadrangle (Landis and Dane, 1967).
