[Type locality]: on east bluff of Sierra Alta Creek [later called Cerro Alto Creek] near Cibolo Ranch and confluence of Cibolo and Sierra Alta Creeks, about 3 mi north of Shafter, [in vicinity of Lat. 29 deg. 51 min. 50 sec. N., Long. 104 deg. 19 min. 15 sec. W., Shafter 7.5-min quadrangle, 1983 ed.], Shafter district, Chinati Mountains, Presidio Co., southwestern TX (Udden, 1904; see also Sellards, 1933, Skinner, 1940 (fig. 2), Rix, 1953, Cooper and Grant, 1972).
Named from Cibolo Creek and Cibolo Ranch, Shafter district, Chinati Mountains, Presidio Co., southwestern TX (Udden, 1904).
