Type locality: in canyon of Chico Creek, 8 to 16 mi northeast of Chico, Butte Co., northern CA (Taff and others, 1940).
Typical localities: Chico Creek [Butte Co.], Pence's ranch, and Tuscan Springs, northern CA (Gabb, 1869).
