Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: Upper Chickasawhay member is in sec. 10-8 N.-7 W., Wayne Co., southeastern MS, on west bank of Chickasawhay River at locality CX; Lower Chickasawhay member is at locality LC, on highway no. 45, 3 mi. north of Waynesboro, Wayne Co., southeastern MS. Named from exposures on Chickasawhay River (Blanpied and others, 1934).
Alternate type locality: approx. 200 m south of Highway 84 bridge on west bank of Chickasawhay River, 2.3 mi west of Waynesboro, [?]locality CX of Blansfield and others (GNC index card files; C.W. Poag, 1975, Gulf Coast Assoc. Geol. Soc. Field Trip Gdbk, 25th Ann. Mtg., p. 87-131).
