Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: exposures along Checkerboard Creek, in T. 15 N., R. 11 E., Washington Co., east-central OK. Good exposure may be seen at "Checkerboard Crossing" of the creek, near E-W/4 line of sec. 22, T. 15 N., R. 11 E. (Gould, 1925; see also Fath, 1917).
