Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from Chaffee Co., CO, where it is well exposed south of Arkansas River about 5 mi southeast of Salida, and on western slope of Monarch Mountain, at Monarch, about 15 mi southwest of Salida (Kirk, 1931).
