Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 2,115 to 2,750 ft, possibly the St. Marys River Oil Corp., Hilliard Turpentine Company test oil well 1, about 10 mi east of Camp Cornelia, in sec. 19, T. 4 N., R. 24 E., Tallahassee Meridian, Nassau Co., northern FL (Cole, 1944, as indicated by Smedley, 1968).
Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 1,856 to 2,490 ft, Florida Oil Development No. 2 Scholtz land well, drilled in 1939 and originally known as the Cedar Keys No. 2 well, in sec. 9, T. 15 S., R. 13 E., Levy Co., FL (Winston, 1994).
Co-type section (subsurface): depth-interval 1,805 to 2,540 ft (base revised from 2,450 ft), Coastal 1 Ragland P 66, in sec. 16, T. 15 S., R. 13 E., Levy Co., FL (Winston, 1977; Winston, 1994).
