Type area: along mountain front, and in SW/4 sec. 20 and NE/4 sec. 29, T. 3 S., R. 70 W., Golden quadrangle, Jefferson Co., CO. Named from Cedar Gulch, first minor south drainage upon entering Golden Gate Canyon (Lickus and LeRoy, 1968).
