Type section: exposures on State Road 856, 0.25 mi (0.4 km) south of State Road 222, Pittsylvania Co., VA. Named from Cascade Station on the Carolina and Northwestern RR, northwest of Leakesville Junction, south-central VA (Meyertons, 1963).
