Named from exposures on Caneadea Creek, below the new power dam (near its mouth) [Caneadea dam], west of town of Caneadea, Angelica 15-min quadrangle, Allegany Co., southwestern NY; notable exposures in gorge (Chadwick, 1933; see Peppers and de Witt, 1951).
