Type locality: on right bank of Pearl River, in S/2 NW/4 NW/4 sec. 19, T. 4 N., R. 1 E., Hinds Co., MS. Named from exposures in bank of Pearl River at Byram, Hinds Co., MS (US geologic names lexicons, USGS Bull. 896, 1200).
