Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section (partial): in NW/4 sec. 1, T. 20 N., R. 118 W., Lincoln Co., WY. A complete section is on south side of Elk Mountain. Named from exposures that cap bluffs of Green River Formation, south of Bullpen Creek, in southwest part of Kemmerer and southeast part of Sage quadrangles, Lincoln Co., WY (Oriel and Tracey, 1970).
