Type section: north side of Humboldt River at Carlin Canyon "loop" area; basal part in NW/4 NW/4 SW/4 sec. 22, T. 33 N., R. 53 E., and upper part in NW/4 SE/4 NW/4 sec. 22, T. 33 N., R. 53 E. [Carlin East 7.5-min quadrangle], Elko Co., NV. Named from Buckskin Mountain, 3 mi south of type locality [between Carlin and Elko], in Pinon Range (Fails, 1960).
