Named from Brazil, Clay Co., central western IN (US geologic names lexicons, USGS Bull. 896, 1200).
Indiana geologists consider type locality to be around Brazil, in southwest corner T. 13 N., R. 6 W., northern Clay Co., southwestern IN (Shaver and others, 1986).
