Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Notable exposures capping Boreal Ridge, 1 mile north of Beacon Peak, in southeastern part of Donner Pass 15-min quadrangle, [Nevada Co.], eastern CA. Sample collected 3,500 ft S. 56 deg. W. from NE/4 sec. 24, T. 17 N., R. 14 E., at 7,590 ft elevation (Dalrymple, 1964).
