Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: at Bitter Creek, Cuyama Valley, [Cuyama Ranch 7.5-min quadrangle, Santa Barbara Co., southern CA]. Crops out prominently on both sides of Salisbury Canyon (Dibblee, 1951).
