Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from development in basin of Beaver Creek and exposures at and around Burk, Wichita Co., central northern TX. Caps upland bluffs on north side of Wichita River in southwestern corner of Wichita Co. (Udden and Phillips, 1912).
