Type area: along front of Bandera Mesa from Puerto Potrillo to Red Hill, and east across Green Valley to McKinney Mountain, Jordan Gap quadrangle, Presidio Co., TX. Boundary stratotypes also designated. (Stevens and others, 1984).

Permian basin
