Type area: composite section measured in Deadman Canyon, near town of Alamogordo, in sec. 3, T. 17 S., R. 10 E., Otero Co., NM. Named from Arcente Canyon, which traverses northern end of main anticlinal structure in which Lake Valley beds are exposed (Laudon and Bowsher, 1941).
