Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from Anakeesta Ridge, a high spur between Mount Le Conte and Newfound Gap, Sevier Co., southeastern TN. Typically exposed along U.S. Highway 441 from base of ridge up to the gap (King and others, 1958).
