Type locality: outcrop at mouth of Cedar Creek [in sec. 28, T. 27 S., R. 18 E., Packwood Creek 7.5-min quadrangle, Kern Co., southern CA]. Named from Media Agua Creek in Temblor Range (Dibblee, 1973).
Reference section: at Zemorra Creek, in sec. 9, T. 29 S., R. 20 E., Carneros Rocks quadrangle, western Kern Co., southern CA (Dibblee, 1973).
