Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: near Agricola, south of Dadeville, Tallapoosa Co., east-central AL (Bentley and Neathery, 1970).
Fresh exposures can be seen in Chattasofka Creek, just south of Dadeville, in NE/4 SE/4 sec. 9, T. 21 N., R. 23 E. [approx. Lat. 32 deg. 49 min. 10 sec. N., Long. 82 deg. 45 min. 06 sec. W., Dadeville 7.5-min quadrangle, Tallapoosa Co., east-central AL (M.G. Stetlenpohl and others, 1990).
