Type locality: on Route 149 (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 144,220 E.; 35,200 N. to 144,145 E.; 34,060 N.), southeastern Jayuya quadrangle, central Puerto Rico. Named from exposures on west side of the valley of Quebrada Achiote, southeastern Jayuya quadrangle, central Puerto Rico (Mattson, 1967).
