Summary:

Pg. 227 (table 1), 229, 248. Weberg formation, basal formation of Colpitts group. Consists mainly of gray granular limestone with calcareous sandstone, grit, and conglomerate; a thin basal conglomerate is present near Colpitts Ranch; elsewhere in type area, formation begins with limestone or coarse calcareous sandstone. Thickness 100 to 272 feet. Underlies Warm Springs formation (new) of Colpitts group; overlies Nicely shale (new) of Mowich group. Age is Middle Jurassic.
Type area: on east side of Warm Springs Creek Valley, in secs. 19, 20, 29, and 30, T. 18 S., R. 26 E., [Grant Co.?], east-central OR. Named from Weberg Ranch, on lower Warm Springs Creek, in sec. 18, T. 18 S., R. 26 E., Crook Co., east-central OR.

Beaulieu, J.D., 1972, Geologic formations of eastern Oregon; east of Longitude 121 degrees 30 minutes: Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries Bulletin, no. 73, 80 p.

Summary:

Pg. 56. Weberg Member of Snowshoe Formation. Lupher (1941) proposed Weberg Formation of Colpitts Group; designated type [area] as exposures on east side of Warm Springs Creek Valley, in secs. 19, 20, 29, and 30, T. 18 S., R. 26 E. Dickinson and Vigrass (1965) revised the Weberg to 1 of 4 members of Snowshoe Formation (considered it a lateral equivalent of part of type Snowshoe); [designated type locality] as exposures on north side of a gully emptying into Warm Springs Creek, in SW/4 SE/4 sec. 19, T. 18 S., R. 26 E. Weberg Member exposed along western nose of Mowich anticline and on limbs of the adjacent Pine Creek downwarp, and smaller structures within western part of Suplee district, central Oregon. Lower part of member consists of gray, resistant, calcareous sandstone and pebble conglomerate composed of chert, felsite, quartz, albite, and biogenic calcite. Fragments of OSTREA and PINNA are recognizable locally. Upper part consists of fossiliferous silty and sandy limestone composed of bivalve plates and spines set in a matrix of limy mud. Total thickness 50 to 200 feet. Grades upward into Warm Springs Member of Snowshoe Formation; unconformably overlies Mowich Group and Upper Triassic rocks. Age is Middle Jurassic (early middle Bajocian), based on fossils (rhynchonellids, belemnites, terebratulids, ammonites, and reptilian vertebrae).

Summary:

Weberg Member of Snowshoe Formation. Weberg Member [of Dickinson and Vigrass (1965)] is adopted by the USGS as lowermost of 3 members of Snowshoe Formation in Suplee area, eastern Oregon. Overlies and intertongues with Weberg Member of Snowshoe; underlies and intertongues with Warm Springs Member of Snowshoe. Age is Middle Jurassic. Report includes detailed faunal lists, descriptions, map locations of Bajocian ammonites.
[Misprint: USGS Bull. 1395-A (p. A47) indicates USGS adopted Weberg Member of Lupher (1941); is Weberg Member of Dickinson and Vigrass (1965).]
