Summary:

Type locality designated along coast of Vega Bay between 177 deg 22' and 117 deg 25'E, west of Gertrude Cove, Kiska Island, Rat Island group, Aleutian Islands, AK. Underlies south half of Kiska and most of Little Kiska Island. Consists predominantly of pyroclastic rocks, interbedded with substantial amounts of flow rocks and minor amounts of sandstone and conglomerate (which is composed of reworked volcanic material). No complete section is exposed. Is 2000 ft at type locality. Underlies Kiska Harbor formation (new). Age is considered to be middle Tertiary on basis of degree of deformation and alteration of constituents and correlation with rocks containing fossils.
