Summary:
Named as a formation in Cross Mountain group. Named for Tub Spring, Fork Mountain quad, eastern TN. Consists of usually massive sandstone. Thickness is 20 to 50 ft thick. Overlies shale interval 110 to 200 ft thick which in turn overlies Low Gap sandstone (new). In Cross Mountain section, underlies 270 ft of shale containing minor amounts of sandstone. Age is Pennsylvanian (Pottsville series). Report includes geologic maps, cross sections, stratigraphic sections, and correlation chart.
