Summary:

Windom Shale Member of Moscow Formation reaches a maximum thickness of 60 m in the eastern Finger Lakes area of NY. Here it consists of medium to dark gray fossiliferous mudstones and shales with thin concretionary limestone beds and can be divided into approximately many traceable beds and a number of thin, localized shell-rich beds. Spezzano Gully beds overlie the Taunton beds and consist of a series of calcareous shales and very argillaceous, somewhat concretionary to tabular limestone beds. Thickness reaches 1.5 m. Interval is rich in small rugose corals and contains an abundance of trilobites. Unconformably underlies the Gage Gully beds (new, informal). Age is Middle Devonian (Givetian).
