Gave following succession (downward order) of outcropping formations in Knox County, Indiana, and adjacent parts of Illinois: St. Wendell sandstone, 45 feet; Parker formation (underclay, coal, black shale, limestone), 20 feet; Merom sandstone, 60 to 100 feet; Ditney formation, 0 to 10 feet; West Franklin formation, 15 feet. Age is Pennsylvanian.
Origin of new names St. Wendell sandstone and Parker formation not indicated.
