Summary:

Monroeav Bed of Vernon Formation was introduced by author in a 1984 abstract (Rochester Acad. Sci. Proc., 1986). Consists of 7 ft of greenish dolomitic shale and mudstone and contains abundant LINGULA. Unit occurs about 15 ft below the Pittsford Bed (revised). Was described by Clarke and Ruedemann (1912, p. 103). Lower contact not observed, but probably rests on Lockport Group. Monroeav, Pittsford, and Barge Canal (new name) Beds occur within small geographic area at Pittsford, NY.
